Just 'cause I don't particularly like Angel doesn't mean I don't like reading Spike/Angel slash (or Spike/Angelus, or William/Angelus). As long as it's well-written and acknowledges the darker dynamics of their relationship, I'd like to see it.

Just saying.

Spike Rules, Angel Drools (G)

This is off slash topic, but I was never comfortable with Buffy and Angel. Like Cher's mother said in Moonstruck, "She's too young for you." There was the very real feeling to me that a thirty-something guy (and I know the actor wasn't that old) was moving in on a relatively naive teenage girl.
No matter how romantic and attractive Angel was supposed to be (and he was a little too Neanderthal looking for my taste) there was still something wrong with this huge adult man pining for that young girl.
Now Spike, despite the fact that the actor was much older, fit into the group and seemed a realistic match for Buffy. It could have been that she was older and allowed to look more mature when the story line happened, or it could have been something as simple as the fact that he was proportionate to them in size and attitude. There was never any cringe factor for me with Spike and Buffy. When the relationship was really rocking I felt that he was her escape and that she was his salvation. Spike wanted to be redeemed.

Hee! How'd you make that green thing with its tongue sticking out?

"She's too young for you."

Agreed. Buffy's relationship with Angel was definitely a teenager with an adult, and it always squicked me on that level. She matured a lot after she sent him to hell, but their relationship didn't really ever recover after that.

Next to the subject header is a faint smiley face icon. I found them there.

On the Angel thing again. I can see the appeal to a young girl of a powerful somewhat older "man". I was that sort of teenage girl. And Buffy has the missing father thing to contend with. But I still found it distracting and always made me think less of Angel.
I said something yesterday about the size and as I thought about that I thought of Riley. He's as tall and big as Angel, but he comes across as a reasonable, contemporary love interest, as does Spike in many ways. Spike and Bufy have that great Vic and Mac vibe that I like. Sick, moi?

Hey, however sick and twisted you are I'm right there with you.

Spike and Buffy not only have that Vic and Mac vibe, they actually get to play out the fighting-and-fucking thing onscreen. They're like a slash couple, but with actual text instead of subtext.
