I got a new computer today. It's a desktop, with one of those newfangled flatscreen monitors. I anticipate many (hundreds of) joyful hours of fannish fun.

The computer I was using up until now was the laptop my parents bought me as a graduation present when I finished my undergrad degree. Which is to say, it dates from the previous millenium.

I wasn't able to watch much in the way of vids on that computer. They tended to crash it, and even when they didn't, the screen was awfully dark and it was hard to see anything. So. Tonight [livejournal.com profile] yourlibrarian has been giving me an education in fast-forward. She sent me 21 vids tonight! Every one of them was a delight.

If anyone else feels inspired to link me to vids that they love, I'd be grateful!

(Also, maybe tips for how to organize myself so I can find them again online? I mean, I'm saving them to my hard drive, but then I don't know if in the future I'll remember where they came from or how to attribute them when I want to share them with someone else.)

heya hon!

head on over to youtube, and find me - packcollective - I've got TONS of buffyish and fireflyish vids, along with moosik... and it's a good way to find vids and keep track of 'em...upload the ones you've got on your computer, just make sure to put a note in the description that you didn't make it...

Uhm, I have to disagree completely with this. Vidders in general tag all their work saying that they don't want it reposted without their permission, especially to a public site like YouTube. It's generally freely available for download for people to keep or privately share with others but reposting is a real no-no. Some may not mind but it's still best to find out for sure.

I don't know what vids you've seen... but here are some links to ones I think are classics. All of them are Spike-centric or Angel-centric or both.

I Touch Myself (the Pop-Up Video version) (http://www.any-time-soon.com/buffy.html) can be downloaded from that site. Very funny stuff!

My very favorite fanvid of all time is built entirely around Spike's coat: "Black Black Heart" by Dualbunny... which doesn't seem to be up at her site anymore. :-( If you haven't gotten this one already, let me know and I'll see about getting a copy to you. I do also recommend taking a look at "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" -- that one is available out on Dualbunny's site (http://www.dualbunny.com/buffy/).

And another that's disappeared from the internet is "Golden Years" by Sisabet. I've got a copy of that one (it's Angel-and-Spike-centric), so if you'd like it, let me know!

Oh! You know, pretty much anything by Luminosity is going to be excellent, so rather than listing them all separately, just go take a peek at her fanvid site (http://www.slum.slashcity.com/lum/eyecandy/)... I recommend you start with my second favorite Ats/BtVS fanvid of all time: "Whatever"

Thanks for the link to Dualbunny's site! I in fact did have "black black heart," one of the very few (and much-loved) vids I'd managed to get onto my old computer.

"I touch myself" was one of the very vids that [livejournal.com profile] yourlibrarian showed me last night.

Thanks for the suggestions—I'll take a look at the rest!

Hi, love.

Like Fenchurche, I can't recommend Dualbunny more highly.

Below are links to some of her vids, including my two favourites, Black, Black Heart and Spanish Doll (the best Dru vid I've ever seen).

Spanish Doll

Black, Black Heart

Suburbia

Must Get Out

You Don't Mess Around With Jim

That final link goes to a temporary site housing just a few of her vids. The rest can be found by trawling back through her LJ.

I'm going to post this same list to [livejournal.com profile] buffyversetop5 but if you go to that community and look at Sueworld2003's latest post, you'll see a link to a wonderful Wesley fanvid called Shotgun by [livejournal.com profile] zeronephilim.

Glad you enjoyed :> I'm not sure what showed up on the file tags but most should have the vid name, vidder name and some initials as to central character(s). I have mine all filed alphabetically in folders by name of vid, but maybe you'd want to do it by name of character?

I know that my filing tends to be organized with back ups in mind. I still do most of my backups to CDs and not many vids fit on one. So I have multiple folders (e.g., Vids A-C) so that I can back up more smoothly.

For attributing authors and sources and whatnot, you can do that manually once they are on your HD. Assuming that you are running Windows, you can right-click and use the "Summary" tab under the "Properties" menu to note the relevant info. I like making up funny descriptions for mine that pop up when you mouse over the icons. That's my "different coloured pens" moment.

Help! I wanted to leave a comment for the latest part of That Good Night but you seem to have disabled comments and now I have to rush off to the dentist.

Will write you f/b later. Enjoyed it a lot.
