Fanficton Do you read or write fanfiction? If my answer were 'no,' the rest of this survey would be very boring! When did you first start reading/writing fanfiction? Reading: 1999. Writing: 2001. What was your first fandom? Reading: Due South. Writing: Once A Thief. First ship? Reading: Fraser/RayK. Writing: Mac/Vic. What website do you use most? LJ nowadays. I started out on Yahoo! groups. What do you think of Fanfiction.net? I rarely venture there. It's ... unweildy. What fandoms have you written in? Once A Thief, That '70s Show, Buffyverse. Yup, just three. Pairings? Assuming the question refers to pairings I've written, as pairings I've read would be far too many to name: Mac/Vic, Mac/Michael, Mac/Li Ann, Eric/Hyde, Spike/Xander, Spike/Angelus/Drusilla. Any fandoms you would like to write in? When I want to, I will. Do reviews affect how you write in any way? A little, yeah. I've had moments in WIPS when many readers started asking about some detail that I hadn't thought was important, and I've subsequently addressed it in the story. Do you use a beta? When I can find one! What ratings do you read/write? Everything from G to NC-17. What warnings have you used on your fiction/read? I don't think I could manage an exhaustive list. I've warned for non-con, excessive violence, explicit sex, and, oh yes! -- naughty words. Do you have any squicks? Teacher/student pairings. That's the one thing that I absolutely will *not* read. Do you Role-play online? If so, what? Nope. Have you ever stolen something from another person's work? Not on purpose! Favorite fandom to write/read? Buffyverse, at the moment. Favorite pairing? Spike/Xander! Favorite writer/writers? See my rec list! (On my website. Can I do URLs here? Let me try: Recs! ) How long should a chapter be? Whatever the story demands. When posting a WIP I usually aim for somewhere between 1500 and 5000 words for a chapter. Do you write/read drabbles? Almost never. I've written a grand total of four. Any fandoms you avoid? Harry Potter, because I'm afraid it would be a minefield (see my squick above). That said, I found a really lovely HP/Buffyverse crossover once (it's on my recs page). Pairings you avoid? Outside the aforementioned squick? There's nothing that I'd absolutely avoid, though there are many that don't interest me. Warnings you avoid? PWP, for the most part! Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is? No, they tell how popular it is. What do you think of Mary Sues? I've encountered them so rarely, I don't really worry about them. (Other than during my brief time in That '70s Show fandom, that is. Dear lord.) Have you ever flamed someone? No! Have you ever been flamed? Nope. That's it, aren't you glad? Yes indeed! Date: 2005-11-25 07:42 am (UTC)So I'm torn between spending the vacation reading and spending it catching up on grading! (And doing much-needed housework . . . ) I suspect I'll do a mix of the three.
