Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Mar. 11th, 2020 09:44 pmPopping in to say: I just finished reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and that was a delightful experience.
(I wish I could sit down and write a long, leisurely post about the elements that I loved, but I'm currently teaching an extra class to cover a paternity leave, and so I am overworked and tired and have to go to bed now.)
ETA: Stuff happened, and suddenly I did have time to write that post; you can read it here!

Date: 2020-03-12 01:53 am (UTC)Unfortunately, while Mike gets spring break next week he will be on campus every day anyway since they are all having to prepare for a potential shutdown. Teaching classes online isn't an issue, and most of the semester's labs have been done. However he is very anxious about the students' fieldwork hours which have to meet a minimum for them to qualify for graduation. What's more, lining up future fieldwork is very iffy right now. This is a whole bunch more work on top of his usual workload.

Well, now I think I'm going to. What with all my unexpected free time this weekend (having cancelled all social gatherings, and not needing to prep for Monday's classes).
This is a whole bunch more work on top of his usual workload.
Oof, poor Mike!
I don't know yet if I'm going to have to try to teach online, or extend classes into what would have been the summer vacation, or what—we're awaiting further instructions from the Ministry.

We've read it twice for book discussions with my Harry Potter meetup group.
Twice?! Wow, you must really have liked it! :-D I can imagine those being super fun discussions.

Oh, that is so cool!!! That would be a memory to treasure. :-D
