Coming soon to an LJ near you...
Nov. 18th, 2006 11:57 pmSo, if you have me friended, or if you stop by here time to time, you know that I haven't been posting much for the past few months. When I have posted, it's been mostly to explain why I'm not posting, which is that I signed up for the Fall for S/X ficathon and have been obsessively working on that story for several months.
By "obsessively" I mean: I have been writing on the commuter train, even when sitting with my coworkers. I have been writing on the bus. I have been writing standing up at the bus stop, in the métro station, and on the actual subway train. I have written while riding up an escalator. I have written while sitting in a dentist's chair waiting for a cavity to be filled. ... Oh, and also on my computer at my desk at home, like a normal person.
This was my first time ever trying to write a story to a deadline. I got pretty stressed about it. I literally had nightmares in which it was my posting deadline and I hadn't finished writing yet and I was trying to finish writing in between posting chapters. Eeek! (Boy did I feel silly about that when I woke up.)
And tomorrow is my posting day, and oh my Lord, I finished it today at about 6:30 in the evening. Woohoo! I mean, I'll be tweaking it until the last moment, and
yourlibrarian is reading it over right now, and I'm still figuring out where to put the chapter breaks ... but yeah. It's done.
42,400 words, baby. Woot.
And having realized that it'll be November 19th here as soon as midnight strikes, I've decided to post chapter one before I go to bed. So I'll be posting very, very soon; basically, as soon as I can manage to get the story notes written (given that it's already 3 minutes to midnight).
I'm so excited! I hope people read it!
