Seems weird to me that anyone should suggest that women can't hug and kiss each other, without it being sexual in some way - as my sisters-in-law and I are always doing that; but maye it's a cultural thing as much as anything.

But of course, different cultures have very different rules about physical contact...and people on the web come from a number of different cultures. Plus, there's the nascent LJ culture (which changes much more quickly than an ordinary culture, I think).
